Pema Chödrön
Beloved for her accessible and down-to-earth teaching style, Pema Chödrön is one of the best known Buddhist teachers in the West. She became involved with Buddhism in the early 70s, going on to become a fully ordained nun in 1981. In 1986 she moved to Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia and become its first director. She still serves as its resident teacher today. She has written several books on Buddhism, the first being Wisdom Of No Escape. An early student of Chögyam Trungpa, she currently studies with Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
